DarkSide is an experiment that aims to reveal dark matter particles. The experiment is located at Gran Sasso National Laboratories and uses a dual-phase TPC filled with liquid argon depleted in 39Ar as a detector.
Thanks to a careful strategy of selection of materials and veto, DarkSide is a null background experiment. Currently the DarkSide-50 version, containing 50 kg of ultrapure liquid argon, is in the process of taking data and the collaboration is involved in the finalization of the DarkSide-20k project, which will allow to increase the mass in analysis by three orders of magnitude and will use innovative technologies for detecting the scintillation light produced by the liquid argon.
