On September 23, the Circolo Cittadino in Latina hosted the MAGIC (MAgnetic Gadgets for Innovative Creations) awards ceremony. This initiative has been promoted by the Sezione Meccatronica of Unindustria and developed with the technical-scientific partnership of the Frascati National Laboratory in collaboration with the ITS Meccatronico del Lazio Academy.
MAGIC has been a STEM orientation and education contest that challenged students at the Marconi High School in Latina to realize a real measurement systems to be used at the Beam Test Facility of the Frascati National Laboratory. The students enjoyed a unique experience of creativity and knowledge, experimentation, discovery, and self-learning, applying their scientific knowledge, acquired in their classroom, in a real-world context and in a professional manner.
The event has also been an opportunity to take stock of the pilot project launched in April 2025 and to reward the winning students. Speakers included Alessandro Vannozzi, representative for the Frascati National Laboratory; Fausto Bianchi, President of Unindustria Latina; Giorgio Klinger, President of the Unindustria Sezione Meccatronica; Miriam Diurni, President of the ITS Meccatronico del Lazio Academy; Ester Scarabello, Head Teacher; and Francesco Pirani, teacher and project coordinator. Ugo Rotundo, Head of the Technical Division of LNF and Mimma Barbati, Director of the ITS Meccatronico del Lazio Academy, also participated in the event.
Starting in September 2025, the initiative will be extended to other institutes of Lazio.
