EPS PRIZE FOR PHYSICS “EMMY NOETHER” GOES TO CATALINA CURCEANU

Catalina Oana Curceanu, LNF senior researcher, won the prestigious price Emmy Noether Distinction for Women in Physics 2017, established by EPS,  European Physical Society.

Here an excerpt from the mention by EPS, “… Dr. Curceanu is awarded the “Emmy Noether” Price for her leading role in experimental nuclear and hadronic physics, for her substantial contributions to a better understanding of low-energy QCD and some issues of fundamental physics… and for the success of her outreach activities…”.

This recognition, named after the great German mathematician, is awarded twice a year with the dual aim of highlighting the importance and the contributions of female scientists and identifying behavioral patterns that may suggest young women a career in physics. In particular, this price rewards dedication in one’s field, dissemination of scientific knowledge and awareness activities about gender equality issues.

LNF warmly congratulate Catalina for this result.
