The Beam Test Facility, extracting electron and positron beam pulses from DAFNE’s LINAC, has been operational in 2016 providing 240 beam-days, and it will stop for the winter shut-down on Dec. 19th. Among the 30 user teams accessing the facility, with many INFN and some international  research groups, BTF has hosted the INFN branch of the Beamlines for School CERN initiative and a short course for Insubria University students.

In 2017 a number of upgrades of the facility are planned, including the preparation of a second beam-line, so the facility will be available to the users from February to July.

The call and the instructions for applying for a shift can be found at the BTF web-site:

A few slots for young researcher training and educational activities will be also reserved, in connection with the Beam4School program at CERN.

All interested users and research groups are invited to apply by the end of 2016.
