On Friday 10th of November National Laboratory of Frascati welcomed the sixty students who won the 2017 edition of the Asimov Award. They had the chance to visit the Laboratory for writing the best reviews of the works presented at the contest.
During this awarding-day, the students, guided by some researchers, visited LNF particle accelerators: Dafne, Sparc_Lab, AdA. They also saw the antenna NAUTILUS and a detectors exhibition, Open Detectors.
The Asimov Award, established and organized for the first time in 2016 in Abruzzo by Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) of L’Aquila, involved this year Puglia and Sardinia too. The contest is based on a board of more than 1400 students selecting the best work among a series of scientific dissemination books. Il vaccino non è un’opinione (Mondadori) by Roberto Burioni was chosen among the five finishers.
The winner’s name had been announced on 6th of May during a ceremony held at the same time in L’Aquila, Cagliari and Lecce, the cities participating to this second edition of the Asimov Award, coordinated by the respective sections of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN). The latter regularized the analysis, reading and review of the works carried out by the students and valid as a work-related learning project.
