1st July 2020, Matteo Palutan (LNF) is the new deputy-spokesperson of LHCb experiment at CERN

LHCb experiment at CERN changes its spokesperson.

The new one is Chris Parkes from the University of Manchester who starts today his three-year tenure as LHCb spokesperson.

He takes over from Giovanni Passaleva from the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare in Firenze, who has served as LHCb spokesperson from 1 July 2017 to 30 Jun 2020.

Matteo Palutan from the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati of INFN is the new deputy spokesperson.

Palutan is first researcher at LNF, he worked for the KLOE experiment and since 2010 he has being working in the LHCb collaboration for which he was Muon Project Leader (2016-2018) and National Representative (2019-2020).

Chris Parkes and Matteo Palutan will face the huge challenges of leading LHCb collaboration through the completion of the major LHCb detector upgrade during the LHC Long Shutdown 2.

The upgrade is practically a new detector that will collect data thanks to the new fully software trigger system.

The construction activities have been heavily disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the work together across the international collaboration allows to complete the experiment.

For the further future, LHCb is planning an Upgrade II of the detector that will allow the full exploitation of the High-Luminosity LHC. Beyond working on present and future upgrades, the LHCb collaboration is preparing many exciting physics results from analyses of the full data taken during the first decade of LHC operations, hopefully able to confirm or find hints of physics beyond the Standard Model of Particles.
