A new Director at TIFPA

Giuseppe Battistoni has been appointed as Director of TIPFA (Trento Institute for Fundamental Physics and Application), the national centre of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics of Trento collaborating with the Università di Trento, the Bruno Kessler Foundation and the Health Authority for Health Services of the Province of Trento. Battistoni will take up office on the 2nd of September.

Battistoni has been Dirigente di Ricerca of INFN since 2001 at the Milan Section. He spent the first part of his scientific career at Frascati National Laboratories, participating in particle physics experiments on accelerators and giving a highly original contribute to the development of particle detectors, in particular in the field of counters in streamer regime. In the same period, he worked in astroparticle physics with the experiments on the nucleon decay at M. Bianco (NUSEX) and in cosmic ray physics and neutrinos at Gran Sasso Laboratories (MACRO). For several years he has been actively engaged in the study of the techniques related to the use of accelerators and detectors in medical physics.

Best wishes to Giuseppe for his new and important task.
