Reheating Scale and Pre-Big Bang Nucleosynthesis Cosmology with Scalar Fields

The mechanism of inflation, i.e. an epoch of accelerated expansion after the hypothetical Big Bang, is considered the most promising cosmological model for the description of the early Universe. Indeed, it offers an elegant way to solve the puzzles of the standard Big Bang cosmology and, at the same time, it gives a natural explanation of the origin of primordial metric fluctuations, that lead to the large scale structures formation and to the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies.
Moreover, inflation is also important because it shows how the Universe should enter the initial radiation dominated phase of the Big Bang cosmology thanks to an epoch known as “reheating”.
Herein, I will discuss an alternative cosmological scenario based on a
post-reheating era initially dominated by one or more simple scalar field(s) completely decoupled from matter and radiation.
I will show how the presence of these additional components in the energy budget of the Universe provides interesting results about the reheat temperature of the Universe, the amplitude of the inflationary fluctuations as well as the freezing mechanism of dark matter particles.
