This talk will review what we know (and we do not know)
about the sources and mechanisms that generate very high energy particles
in the Galaxy and in the Universe. These sources can be studied
with a multi-messenger (cosmic rays, gamma rays, neutrinos and gravitational waves) observations.
Recent studies have given very important information, but many fundamental question remain open.
