BEAMLINE FOR SCHOOLS: STUDENTS FROM FERMO WINNERS OF 2017 EDITION

In the international competition “Beamline for schools 2017″, organized by CERN, the win goes to Liceo Scientifico Statale “T.C. Onesti” of Fermo.

TCO-ASA marchigiana team, with its experiment on the Cherenkov radiation, emerged the winner over 180 teams composed by participants from 43 countries of the world.

Their success is due to the experience of those students from the above school that last year had been hosted in Beam Test Facility (BTF) at National Laboratory of Frascati in order to develop their experiment, making the semifinal of 2016 edition.

After the announcement of the winning team the BTF operations coordinator, Dr. Luca Foggetta, commented: “BTF commits a share of time to educational activities involving students and teachers from both high school and college. The BTF team, last September, was enthusiastic about the day spent with Prof. Felici and the students, appreciating their great dedication and passion. Today we are so proud that we could contribute to their well-deserved success. The example given by Fermo experimenters, in which they proved great skill and creativity, was very challenging even for us. Waiting for calling them “colleagues”, BTF team wishes them the best for their future.”

Great satisfaction was shown by Prof. Maria Rita Felici who led the project. She expressed her pleasure and thanked LNF for its hospitality and BTF for its great willingness.
